Meet the Coaches

Bogey Valdez (Owner)

I have been physically active all my life.  My family was involved in softball, tennis, biking, hiking, fishing and camping.  During High School I played on the Varsity tennis team all 4 years as well as taught tennis during the summer months.

After graduating from high school I enlisted in the Marine Corps and was stationed in San Diego. During my service I took part in 2 deployments to Iraq and ended my enlistment as the rank of Sgt.  It wasn’t until after my enlistment I found myself becoming unhealthier everyday.  I was suffering from severe back pain, depression and would find any reason to drink and party in an effort to hide both. I found myself weighing just under 300 lbs, I was always out of breath, smoked a pack a day, and was constantly getting sick.

I was drawn to CrossFit when I realized that the movements being taught were important and relatable in everyday life, whether at home, as a professional athlete, or in combat.  It took me months to decide I wanted to try it, and even longer for me to step foot in my first CrossFit “Box”.   After my first class I saw a difference in CrossFit from other gyms I had tried.  Everyone was friendly and introduced themselves to me.  The coaches had real life experience in what they taught.  I was hooked.  None of my classes were boring and everyone there would motivate each other, even me (The new guy).  Classes would consist of a variety of  people from different  physical abilities, but the coaches were always able to accommodate each person whether they were a beginner like myself, an elderly participant, or a collegiate level athlete.  My coaches were always willing to work with me when they had extra time, and they never took the salesman approach regarding my goals.

My passion in life is to show people how easy weight loss is.  I love to help people get healthy, and train so they can survive anything.

“We must do what is necessary for us to live a longer life for those who Love us.”

I have loved sports for as long as I can remember. I enjoy not only playing sports but competing and coaching as well. I have coached youth basketball and soccer in the past. I put all of that aside to chase my dream of becoming an Emergency Technician and a Wildland Firefighter. Through firefighting I found CrossFit. It wasn’t until I joined CrossFit that I faced the cold hard reality that I was not very healthy. I was 50 pounds overweight and constantly sick. I developed such a love for CrossFit I wanted to train every day. I lost over 50 pounds and have never looked back. CrossFit along with Olympic Weightlifting has bettered every aspect of my life. I look forward to not only coaching you but sharing my love for CrossFit as well.
